Valldemossa is a picturesque village. It is probably most famous for the Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa and its famous guests.
In winter 1838/39 Frédéric Chopin and writer George Sand (+ children) were guests at the charterhouse. Two lovers who escaped from Paris for two reasons: Chopin's health and their affair. A Winter in Majorca written by G. Sand might give you an idea of what it was like to live there back then.
Unfortunately, it was raining when we arrived. Nevertheless it was an amazing day, I touched Chopin's nose for good luck and tried ensaïmada de tallades (pastry) covered with pumpkin. Very tasty!
Here's something for good luck. Not sure whether simply touching Chopin's nose will bring you any luck or if you have to rub it!? I went for both. Just to be sure! After all, better safe than sorry, right? Or as the Germans would say doppelt hält besser! ;)
A little insight into the museum or rather into the rooms were both lovers lived. His piano is in the room on the left. (I'll add this picture later to this post). First thing I noticed was the entrance into one of the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen. Magnifique!
In case you're wondering it is not oily hair ... hahahahha ... like I said it was raining. Every now and then it was pouring.
The pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the village. The weather wasn't exactly helping either but I still hope you got some kind of love for this village! :)
